Amanda Abrom

Director

Amanda Abrom is the Director of Global Schools, an initiative of the UN SDSN which supports a network of K12 educators and schools in 100 countries, as well as 1350+ program alumni. Under her leadership, the Global Schools Advocates program was re-branded and launched specifically for teachers and educators to bring SDGs within school communities, curricula, and operations. Previously, Amanda has held positions with the Chilean Ministry of Education and worked on the US Department of State’s international exchange programs for young leaders from Africa and the Middle East. Her interests in education and student engagement stem from various youth leadership and graduate roles at UNICEF’s Education Cannot Wait Fund, the UN Joint SDG Fund, the Columbia Earth Institute, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Youth Initiative), and the United Nations Association of the USA. She is a Fulbright Scholar recipient; a WISE Emerging Leader on behalf of the Qatar Foundation; a Global Ambassador for Quality Education on behalf of the UN Foundation; and a NAAEE Environmental Education 30 Under 30. Amanda is a published author and holds a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia SIPA, a Masters in Public Administration from the London School of Economics, and an Honors Degree in Economics from the University of Delaware. Her academic scholarship centered on teacher training and education for sustainable development.
